The Victoria and Albert museum recently held an opening party for their ‘Fashioned from Nature’ exhibition.
Stella McCartney, Lady Amelia Windsor and others turned up to see V&A Chairman Nicholas Coleridge open the exhibition, which featured designers including Christian Dior, Stella McCartney and Dame Vivienne Westwood.
The exhibition – the first of its kind in the UK – explores the relationship between fashion and nature over the past 500 years.
By inviting visitors to think about the source of the materials used in fashion, the aim is to recognise the impact of fashion on the natural world.
Despite the fact that fashion has always been influenced by nature, it also seems destined to harm it and thus, by presenting fashion alongside natural history, the hope is that people will question their involvement in fashion and the detrimental effect it has upon nature.
The Fashioned from Nature exhibition is on now at the Victoria & Albert Museum until the 27th January 2019.
