PANTONE-Color-of-the-Year-2016-JustinaElumeze-MainThe last time I covered Pantone’s announcement for their colour of the year was January 2013, when they stated that their chosen colour was Emerald.

However, this time round 2016 is to be a landmark year in that for the first time, Pantone have decided to dictate not one but two colours that the world must adhere to: Rose Quartz and Serenity…

The choice to combine the two colours was influenced by the perception of gender blurring being experienced around the world and, as Leatrice Eiseman, executive director at Pantone states, “Colours this season transport us to a happier, sunnier place (away from the stresses of modern day life) where we feel free to express a wittier version of our real selves.”

One has to admit, the colour choices are beautiful and I for one look forward to the influence Rose Quartz and Serenity have on the art, fashion and consumer world and to witnessing their contribution to making the world a more peaceful place to live in, as stated by Pantone.
