Prada Olfactories: Fragrance Campaign Video

Day for Night

The beautiful Salvadore Dali-esque artwork seen here is from Prada’s latest campaign for their new fragrance range ‘Olfactories’.

There are ten unisex fragrances within the collection, all with highly imaginative and dream like names such as ‘Tainted Love’ (a lipstick fragrance with violet and musk) and ‘Marienbad’ (with vanilla, amber, leather and incense).

Each fragrance is encased in a clear glass bottle colored a different shade of the rainbow, with a surreal visual collage and comes with a printed silk pouch that correlate to the symbols and emotions of which it is made.

Prada’s appointed perfumer Daniela Andrier explains, “The accompanying visual collages on each of the fragrances represent a dream. Dreams are really impressions when you awake. The colors and feeling are all broken up in one’s mind, and that’s how these fragrances were constructed—that these are possibly memories that belong to them, the consumers.”

Prada have now released a campaign video to go along with and further promote their limited edition fragrance range available at Prada Soho and selected Prada stores.

Of the fact that Prada’s art for their Olfactories campaign is reminiscent of Dali’s early surrealist work, Andrier states, “You’re always coming from somewhere. You’re never inventing something brand new, you’re an element within the whole story.

“I’m interested in creating fragrances that have a relation to the past, the present and the future, and that you can give fragrances material that people might use to dig up their old memories.

Double Dare

“I think that Mrs Prada always has an intelligent relationship with references to the past,” Andrier further explains. “She’s comfortable going back there without being afraid that she’s copying anyone, because she knows that she will transform it and bring it into a very lively present –
and maybe even project us into the future.”
