After running the successful New York boutique, NoLita which included a large celebrity fan base, Patterson felt it was time to cater to the needs of ethnic women looking for more variety in hair and beauty products that were not always readily available.

Brown girls are always searching for that perfect combination of products,” Patterson
says. “For every hair product a Caucasian woman buys, a brown girl buys eight”

From well known lines including Iman Cosmetics, the site also features other brands such as RMS Beauty.

With specialist experts (including dermatologists and stylists) to assist in all matters, as well as guest star video beauty and hair tips from the likes of Azealia Banks, the site is truly unique. Patterson’s states that her aim is to prove to her customers that they have more options than they might have thought. “I want them to say, ‘Thanks for taking me out of the ethnic aisle.’ ”
