Naomi Campbell: Ten day juice fast for Versace runway show

Naomi recently stated that she fasted solely on juice for ten whole days in preparation for her Versace runway return show at Spring fashion week last month.
After a fourteen year absence from the catwalk, Naomi felt that a total detox was in order and thus stuck to drinking juice made with carrots, ginger and pineapple.

That she did this for ten days is truly an amazing feat.

Whether Naomi did a juice fast as she stated, one cannot say. However, the fact remains that there are important health benefits to both juicing and fasting. In my previous post from last year, ‘Would you like some coffee with your sugar…‘, I spoke about how I had found juice fasting to be and have since implemented both fasting and juicing regularly into my lifestyle.
Many now are implementing intermittent fasting (where one fasts for a days in the week) into their diets and are more than pleased with the outcome. Fasting not only is a great way of losing weight but can also assist in an improved general sense of well-being. This can be due to several reasons, including a reduced intake in such foods that can cause lethargy (such as carbohydrates and other ‘heavy’ foodstuffs. See the ‘The Paleo Diet Rocks!‘ post for more information on carbohydrates), as well as the sense of joy and accomplishment often associated with successfully completing a fast.

A fast combined with juicing is a great way to ingest a multitude of vitamins and minerals naturally, as well as keep oneself hydrated whilst fasting. The only way to properly juice is to use a juicer and juice fresh fruit and vegetables in order to get the best nutrients and vitamins.

There are an endless amount of delicious juices one can make with fruit and vegetables. Weird combinations that you would not dream of eating together such as broccoli, banana, kale cucumber, pineapple and ginger combine to make a tasty and extremely healthy juice. The fact is that has been going on since the dawn of time (the most famous of all fasters being Jesus Christ Himself…!) and has always been known for both its health and spiritual benefits.

That so many have been recently singing about the virtues of both juicing and fasting is a clear indication that even though an obvious new fad, juicing – and more specifically fasting – can be of benefit to everyone. Give it a go if you have yet to do so, and see how it works for you. You’ll be amazed.
