Glam-rock superstar Daid Bowie features in the latest Louis Vuitton advertising campaign.
The campaign, featuring model Arizona Muse, is the second part of Vuitton’s ‘L’Invitation au Voyage’ film, with the first having aired last November.
David Bowie, whose fashion style and music has been of major influence to so many fashion houses and musicians over the years, will star in the three minute movie, directed by Romain Gavras and set in a Venetian masked ball, with David’s song, “I’d rather be high” playing as the soundtrack. The song is taken from his first album in over ten years, The Next Day.
Louis Vuitton had no hesitation in choosing the living legend to star in the ads. Frederic Winckler, Vuitton’s communication and events director, says of
snagging Bowie to appear in the ad, “He’s a client and someone who has a
natural link with the brand. He liked the character, the role he was
asked to play.”
Louis Vuitton’s spokesperson further added, “David Bowie is an iconic artist. He was seduced by the role we asked him to play and by the idea
of re-orchestrating the song I’d Rather Be High.”
The film, L’Invitation au Voyage, will premiere on the label’s app on November the 7th , with a shortened version showing on television screens from the 10th.
